Senator Tammy Duckworth Visits MVSS
Loyola’s Office for Military Veteran Student Services (MVSS) marked Veterans Day by dedicating its new space in the Granada Center. Kelly McCabe, a Marine Corps veteran and junior studying cybersecurity in the College of Arts and Sciences, shared her perspective on how the new physical space on campus will facilitate greater community building and support. United States Senator Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq War Veteran and Purple Heart recipient, took part in the ceremony. “I’m proud to see Loyola University Chicago committing to supporting its student veteran population and I’m honored to be here to help open this new veteran center,” said Senator Duckworth. -
The COVID-19 pandemic is ‘over’ — and the GI Bill needs to adapt
'When colleges moved to remote learning in 2020, Congress passed a fix that changed the in-person stipulation and provided a temporary adjustment that allowed those using benefits to take classes completely over the internet. Now, in 2023, it’s normal for individuals to be back to taking classes full-time in person and the GI Bill has gone back to requiring one class to be in person in order to be eligible for the full housing allowance.' -Colin Andersen (BS'23 - Army Veteran). -

Carly Fournier (BS '22) was selected as the 2021-2022 Student Veteran Leader of the Year for the State of Illinois. IDVA leadership was joined by Loyola Leadership to present this prestigious award. -

COVID-19 & Your VA education benefits
Public Law No: 116-128 *These protections have been extended to December 21, 2021. This bill authorizes the Department of Veterans Affairs to continue to provide educational assistance through December 21, 2020, for programs of education that have been converted to distance learning due to an emergency or health-related situation. Such assistance includes monthly housing stipends or subsistence allowances. If there are questions or would like to meet virtually please feel free to email Veterans@luc.edu. -
