Flu Vaccine

Fall is near, and Flu season is not far behind. Starting in October, Loyola University Chicago will offer free Flu vaccines to Faculty and Staff at the Lake Shore, Water Tower, and Health Sciences campuses. To obtain an on-campus Flu vaccine this fall, you must register through the Empower Health portal.

  • Note: The Empower Health portal no longer requires a site code as you will use your UVID ID and password to access your account. As a reminder Flu vaccines are mandatory for faculty and staff at the Health Sciences Campus. **EHS will submit proof of your vaccination to Loyola University to note your compliance. It can take up to two business weeks for your vaccination to appear in the Loyola health app.

Additionally, there are alternate ways to obtain your Flu vaccine:

  • Make an appointment with your network primary care doctor;
  • Visit one of Aetna’s in-network pharmacies or retail locations; or
  • Walk-in to (or schedule a Flu vaccine**at a) MinuteClinic® at select CVS Pharmacy® and Target® locations.

Flu vaccines are offered through both the Aetna medical insurance & the CVS pharmacy benefit plans and are free to participants who visit in-network providers. We encourage you to stay healthy and take advantage of this preventive health service.

None of The Providers or Locations are Convenient for Me; Can I Go Anywhere to Get My Flu Vaccine?

You are strongly encouraged to use an Aetna in-network provider. If a member obtains a Flu vaccine from a non-participating provider, payment for the Flu vaccine will be required at the time of administration. You can submit a claim for reimbursement, but it will be applied to your out of network benefits and not covered at 100%.

How Long Does the Flu Vaccine Last?

The duration of the Flu vaccine is six (6) months.
