Celebrate Mundelein
Gannon Scholars
Students and an alumna discuss the legacy of Mundelein College and what it means to be a Gannon Scholar.
Developing women leaders for a more just society
As we remember the first-class education we received and lifelong friendships we developed as Mundelein students, we hope you will partner with us at the Gannon Center for Women and Leadership by participating in our new initiative, Celebrate Mundelein. This is a five-year fundraising initiative to increase the Gannon Center endowment by $10 million.
While the initiative will support the whole mission of the Gannon Center, we are focusing on the Gannon Scholars (pictured above)—an outstanding cohort of young women who carry many of the same hopes and dreams we brought with us when we first walked into the Skyscraper. Our primary goal is to increase scholarship assistance to each Gannon Scholar to meet her financial need and accurately reflect her service and commitment to extending the Mundelein legacy.
Each Gannon Scholar receives a base annual scholarship of $8,000, an amount that has not increased significantly since the program began in the 1990s. Our goal is to provide $25,000 annual scholarships and transform the Gannon Scholars into a signature program at Loyola University Chicago as our students prepare for a life of service to humanity.
As we seek to put the Gannon Center on sure footing for the future, we are asking you to consider an estate gift in addition to your annual gift. Estate gifts present a win-win opportunity: you can leave a legacy gift for the Gannon Center without financial risk during your lifetime. Please review Loyola's Gift Planning web site for more information, or contact the center's director of development (contact information below) if you have questions.
