The Wellness Center offers confidential testing for common STI’s, such as chlamydia, gonorrhea syphilis, trichomoniasis, human papillomavirus, herpes simplex virus, hepatitis, and HIV. A lab fee is charged for these tests. Confidential tests are done with a doctor or nurse practitioner by appointment.

BYC offers free HIV/STI testing, pregnancy tests, PrEP, hormone therapy, and sexual health consultations for students aged 18-24. No appointment necessary, first come first serve. Walk-ins only.

This hotline answers your sexual health questions with professional and trained staff. They can provide referrals for no-cost or low-cost HIV/STI testing, as well as referrals for PrEP, and care for HIV+ individuals. All calls are anonymous.

HIV and STI Testing Terminology
HIV: Human Immunodeficiency Virus
STI: Sexually Transmitted Infection – HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, or other infections.
Confidential: Testing in which personal information is collected but is kept confidential. Testing could be noted in a person’s medical record (nobody shares your status or any medical information without your consent).
Anonymous: Testing in which no personal information is collected. Participants receive a number with which to collect their results (nobody knows who you are).
OraSure: HIV test done by oral cotton swab and sent to a lab to be processed. Results are available in 1 – 2 weeks.
OraQuick: Rapid HIV test done by oral cotton swab or through a small blood sample. Results are available in 1 hour.
PEP: short for “post-exposure prophylaxis.” This is a medication that is used by HIV-negative people after coming into contact with HIV to reduce their risk of HIV infection. PEP must be started within 72 hours after HIV exposure.
PrEP: short for “pre-exposure prophylaxis.” This is a medication that is used by HIV-negative people before coming into contact with HIV to reduce their risk of HIV infection. PrEP is an oral pill that is taken once a day, and must be taken for at least 7 days to reach optimal levels of protection against HIV.
