Description: |
The purpose of the Medical Polish Student Elective is to provide one week of elective course credit to those students who meet the language skills and cultural competency training of the Medical Polish Program. To achieve elective credit, students will attend 20 hours of peer-led medical Polish classes and either shadow a translator at the LUMC or a fluent attending physician who serves a large Polish patient population. The course will teach students the fundamentals of the Polish language so as to be able to provide a better level of care and communicate with the Polish speaking patient population. |
Method of Evaluation: |
Language skill component: student progress will be evaluated by a quiz and survey on the first day and last day of course. There will also be an oral examination at the end of the course. GRADING: Pass/Fail only. Passing requires successfully completing all required components of the elective. |
