Building a Community of Practice

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is committed to fostering a spirit of intellectual curiosity and a sense of community for the reflective study and practice of medicine. Faculty and staff teams design innovative platforms for engaging colleagues and students in dynamic educational and professional development experiences that altogether help cultivate the capacity to care, teach, learn, and lead in a diverse and evolving, global society.

Culturally Responsive Care and Leadership Certificate Program

The Culturally Responsive Care and Leadership (CRCL) Certificate Program is a dynamic community of practice for Stritch medical students and faculty committed to advancing health equity.

Launched in the fall of 2022, the Culturally Responsive Care and Leadership Certificate (CRCL) Program began with student activism for a co-curricular space to engage in dialogue and deeper learning on emerging issues related to culture, power, and identity in academic medicine (e.g., navigating social location, strategies for addressing health disparities, humanizing communication, trauma-informed care, the role of physicians as advocates and agents of change).

The program is built on a base leadership model that was developed specifically for Stritch medical students by our own ODEI faculty and staff experts. Further informed by the Association of American Medical College's DEI Competencies, which were released for the first time by the AAMC in 2022, the 4-year curriculum of the CRCL certificate is designed to prepare an emerging generation of medical professionals with the capacity to care, teach, learn, and lead in our diverse and ever-evolving, global society.

Additional information can be found on the CRCL Webpage.
