What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola?
I love interacting with, and getting to know, the students at the library, as well as the other employees and patrons. If it takes a village to raise a child, then it takes a university to educate one. It's really wonderful to share in their experiences and growth.
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee?
Working on the student worker appreciation group (SWAG) at the library. Throughout the year, we take the time to show appreciation for our students and they truly enjoy the gift bags, baked goods, and recognition. Additionally, it's really amazing to see the genuine outpouring of gratitude and support from all of the staff members at the library in this effort.
What does Loyola's mission mean to you?
Loyola's mission means getting to do what's best AND doing my job and not having to choose between the two. Knowing that taking the time and energy to treat people as people is not only allowed, but expected.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day?
I love organizing and I love the sense of accomplishment from completing a task, putting books back in order, and leaving a space better than when I arrived. I get to do a lot of that in the stacks.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride.
Whenever people ask (and sometimes when they don’t) I tell them how much I really enjoy working at Loyola.
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you.
I keep chickens at my home in Portage Park.
