SOWK 622: Substance Abuse Treatment in Groups

Description

This course will focus on the many applications of group work to serve substance use disorder (SUD) affected clients. Through a combination of assigned readings, attendance at group meetings, and hands-on participation in small groups within the class, students will gain a working knowledge of how groups function to assist those recovering from SUDs. While the primary focus is on the treatment of SUDs, consideration will also be given to behavioral/process addictions such as sex and gambling.
