Name: Ashley Goldsmith
Year in School: Sophomore
Major: Political Science
About You:
Where are you from?
Omaha, Nebraska
What do you like to do?
I enjoy reading, skiing, and playing with my dog!
My Community Service & Action Experience:
Why do you engage in the Community?
I engage in the community to make connections with new people and support those that live in my area.
What is one of your favorite moments from your community engagement experiences?
One of my favorite moments was at LUC Serve when the other group members and I made cards for students at a local Chicago elementary school wishing them good luck during their school year. It was fun to make the cards as well as get to know other Loyola students!
How do you envision living out the call to "Build the Greater Good" after you graduate?
My goal is to go to law school after I graduate and eventually become a lawyer, and I hope to “Build the Greater Good” through my profession. I want to help people who are underrepresented or being treated unfairly because I believe everyone deserves to be treated justly and with respect.
Being a Rambler:
What tips do you have for building and maintaining community in college?
I recommend joining different clubs and activities in order to build and maintain community in college. I have made many friends through the organizations I am involved in, and those organizations allow me to feel involved on campus and give me the opportunity to meet other students.
What makes you most excited for this school year?
I have been on Zoom most of my freshman year, and I am so excited to finally experience classes and activities in person this year! I am especially looking forward to being a leader for Loyola 4 Chicago and doing service with other students in person.
What advice would you give to an incoming Loyola student?
I would recommend trying new things and to not be afraid to get out of your comfort zone! It can be scary meeting new people or signing up for a club or activity, but it is worth it because you can meet new people, make friends, and discover your passions.
