ABOUT YOU
Where are you from? I am from Appleton, Wisconsin.
What do you like to do in your free time? I like to read, run, and paint furniture! Hanging out with my family and friends always makes me happy!
MY COMMUNITY SERVICE & ACTION EXPERIENCE
How would you describe your role at Community Service & Action? I work with Loyola4Chicago and the Soup Kitchen. In both of these programs I work with leaders to build their leadership skills, and students to help them have a successful experience volunteering. Not only that, but I work with the sites to ensure that the work that the volunteers are accomplishing is helpful. I also advise students about how to serve in their Chicago community through their time at Loyola.
Why do you engage in the community? I believe that we all must work together to create a strong community, and a strong community is one that I want to live in.
What is your favorite thing about the work that you do? I love the fact that I can see the passion that students have for the work that they do. Even if they did not know anything about the site when they started serving, most students come out of their experience with a passion to love and serve others. That is so beautiful for me to see, and I always hope that it continues.
LIFE AT LOYOLA
What is your favorite place on campus? I like to be outside of the chapel by the lake.
What advice would you give to an in-coming student at Loyola? In your first semester take time to have a successful transition, but also get involved just a little bit in a lot of organizations. In your second semester figure out what you want to do and start getting really involved in only a few things. Do what you have time for in your life and what makes you happy and fuels your passion.
