Recognition

Celebrating student success

At the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health, we support and celebrate student success. Each year, we bestow the following awards to recognize those students who are excelling in the classroom, in the community, or both!

President's Medallion

Every year, the University honors one student from each school and college who exemplifies the aims of a Jesuit education: leadership, scholarship, and service. These students excel not only in the classroom but also in the world and are dedicated to serving those around them.

Parkinson Scholars

Named for Loyola University Chicago alumni Robert (“Bob”) and Betty Parkinson, the Robert and Betty Parkinson  represent a group of exceptionally talented students who are dedicated to being “persons for others” and plan to use their Parkinson education to improve the health and health care of individuals, communities, and systems. Learn more about the Parkinson Scholars and how to apply.

A semester-by-semester acknowledgement of those full-time students (taking 12 semester hours or more) who obtain at least a 3.5 grade point average in any given academic semester. Students on the dean's list receive personal acknowledgement from the dean.

ALPHA SIGMA NU

Alpha Sigma Nu is the international honor society of Jesuit institutions of higher education. It was founded in 1915 to honor a select number of students each year based on scholarship, loyalty, and service. Alpha Sigma Nu is unique among honor societies in that it seeks to identify the most promising students in Jesuit schools. Inductees demonstrate an intelligent appreciation of and commitment to the ideals – intellectual, social, moral, and religious – of Jesuit higher education. Selection to Alpha Sigma Nu is one of the highest honors that can be given on a Jesuit campus.
