Medical Laboratory Science Clinical Certificate Programs

The Medical Laboratory Science Clinical Certificate programs in Blood Banking, Hematology, and Microbiology will be offered under the umbrella of the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited M.S. in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) program within the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health. The Clinical Certificate programs are geared towards individuals who have completed a bachelor’s degree with 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of combined biological science and chemistry with laboratory and a 3-credit hour mathematics course. Prospective students do not need to have a scientific degree if they meet the application curriculum requirements.  Each certificate program focuses solely on one of three disciplines: Blood Banking, Hematology, or Microbiology.

Upon completion of a certificate, students will be eligible to sit for a categorical certification as a Scientist or Technologist in their specific concentration- Blood Banking [BB(ASCP)], Hematology [H(ASCP)], or Microbiology [M(ASCP)].
