University Assessment
As of May 5, 2024, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) is responsible for coordinating university assessment and program evaluation. OIE implements this coordinated work via a Provost appointed University Assessment and Program Evaluation Committee.
The committee is charged to:
- Recommend and guide policies, practices, professional development, and selection of technology tools that support effective, sustainable, and useful assessment and program evaluation of academic and non-academic programs.
- Lead institutional efforts to build and align a university culture where assessment and program evaluation are integrated into program improvement decision-making and planning.
- Clarify Loyola-specific meaning of and language around assessment and evaluation as they pertain to Loyola University Chicago’s mission and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Teach faculty and staff to distinguish between the processes of assessment, program evaluation, and institutional research and how these can inform actionable and planned improvements.
- Support dialogue across Loyola where Loyola faculty and staff can learn about effective practices and processes that support the University mission.
- Plan and implement a university assessment poster session (2-3 hours long) where findings from assessments and program evaluations which inform improvements are shared across the university in a shared space.
