University Assessment

As of May 5, 2024, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) is responsible for coordinating university assessment and program evaluation.  OIE implements this coordinated work via a Provost appointed University Assessment and Program Evaluation Committee.  

The committee is charged to:

  1. Recommend and guide policies, practices, professional development, and selection of technology tools that support effective, sustainable, and useful assessment and program evaluation of academic and non-academic programs. 
  2. Lead institutional efforts to build and align a university culture where assessment and program evaluation are integrated into program improvement decision-making and planning. 
  3. Clarify Loyola-specific meaning of and language around assessment and evaluation as they pertain to Loyola University Chicago’s mission and commitment to continuous improvement.   
  4. Teach faculty and staff to distinguish between the processes of assessment, program evaluation, and institutional research and how these can inform actionable and planned improvements. 
  5. Support dialogue across Loyola where Loyola faculty and staff can learn about effective practices and processes that support the University mission. 
  6. Plan and implement a university assessment poster session (2-3 hours long) where findings from assessments and program evaluations which inform improvements are shared across the university in a shared space. 

OIE also directly supports annual assessment, course evaluations, program evaluation, and academic program review.  Please see side menu for more details.
