Excellence in nursing practice

‌Loyola Nursing has a long history of providing care to local and regional communities that are traditionally underserved. We are particularly proud of two Loyola-managed clinical sites, which offer opportunities for student and faculty practice as well as research.

Loyola Nursing in the Community

In addition to our clinical placement programs and partnerships, Loyola strives to cultivate strong community connections and provide vital nursing services to underserved populations. Through community partnerships and programs, Loyola Nursing helps improve patient care and health outcomes in Chicago area neighborhoods while providing hands-on learning opportunities for our students. School-Based Health Center

Each year, more than 50 students and dietetic interns work alongside primary care providers at Loyola’s School-Based Health Center (SBHC) at Proviso East High School in Maywood, where they learn how to care for a diverse student population. The SBHC offers a full range of primary health care, nutrition, and mental health services tailored to the needs of adolescents who live in an urban area. It reaches 1,800 students annually.

For more than 30 years, the Loyola Community Nursing Center has served the diverse communities of Rogers Park, Edgewater, and Uptown that surround Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus. Supervised by nursing faculty, students gain clinical experience, while providing the area's seniors with health services.
