Lunar Legacy: A Post-Mid-Autumn Celebration
On October 24, 2024, over 60 students, faculty, and staff gathered at the Language Learning Resource Center (LLRC) to celebrate Chinese Culture Day and honor the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival. Sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, the LLRC, and the Chinese Program, the event immersed attendees in vibrant aspects of Chinese culture.
Eight students took the stage, delivering presentations on diverse topics that showcased the richness of Chinese history and tradition. They explored the significance of Chinese holidays like the Moon Festival, wedding customs, and the fascinating contrast between Chinese and Western pirates and their ships. Other presentations highlighted Chinese inventions, such as gunpowder, and cultural symbols, including the Chinese zodiac and architectural marvels like Taipei 101.
In addition to the educational presentations, attendees enjoyed sampling traditional Chinese cuisine, including mooncakes and a variety of Chinese snacks. This festive occasion provided a unique opportunity for participants to experience the depth of Chinese culture while enjoying the LLRC’s welcoming environment.
