Lieutenant Colonel Zachary Novitske, Chair & Professor of Military Science
Lieutenant Colonel Zachary Novitske commissioned as a Chemical Officer in 2006 through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps at the University of Tampa where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. His military education includes the Chemical Basic Officer Leader Course, Adjutant General Captains Career Course, Command and General Staff College, and FA49 Qualification Course.
Novitske's deployment history includes 26 months with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team "Rakkasans," 101st Airborne Division as Assistant Operations Officer, Battle Captain, and Chemical Officer for 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment during Operation Iraqi Freedom, then Chemical Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Special Troops Battalion during Operation Enduring Freedom. Later, he served as the Mission Command Element G-1 during Operation Atlantic Resolve with the 4th Infantry Division.
Before serving as the Professor of Military Science at Loyola University Chicago, Lieutenant Colonel Novitske served as a Senior Analyst for the Test and Analysis Office, Maneuver Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate, Futures and Concepts Center at Fort Moore, GA. Previous assignments include Combat Operations Analyst in the Analysis Division and Secretary of the General Staff at Fort Eustis, VA; Chief, Human Resource Operations Center, 4th Infantry Division; Battalion S-1 for 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment and 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment in the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, CO; Battalion S-1 for the Milwaukee Recruiting Battalion in WI; Chemical Platoon Leader and Executive Officer for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Special Troops Battalion and Chemical Officer for 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY.
Novitske later earned his Master of Business Administration from Webster University and Master of Science in Operations Research at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, OH after being selected for transfer into Functional Area 49 (Operations Research and Systems Analysis).
