Whalen, Mena
Assistant Professor
Dr. Mena Whalen earned her B.S. from Missouri State University in mathematics with an emphasis in statistics in 2016. She then continued her education with a Ph.D. in statistics from Northwestern University graduating in 2021 under the advisement of Dr. Noelle I Samia and Dr. Bruce Spencer. Dr. Whalen joined Loyola as a faculty member in 2021. Her research interest includes time series analysis with an emphasis in change point analysis, spatial analysis, data visualization, and network models. Special topic interest includes health policy, law and policy change, and criminology. She is an ambassador and co-organizer of the Women in Data Science (WiDS) conference for Chicago.
