Giaquinto, Anthony
Professor; Undergraduate Program Director
Dr. Anthony Giaquinto received a B.S. and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining Loyola, he was a faculty member at Texas A & M University, Mississippi State University, and the University of Michigan. He has received excellence in teaching awards from both the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Giaquinto's research interests include quantum groups, algebraic deformation theory, homological algebra, non-commutative ring theory, and Lie theory. His research has been supported by the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation. Dr. Giaquinto's work has appeared in leading journals (including Communications in Algebra, the Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra, the Journal of Algebra, and Letters in Mathematical Physics) and he has given invited talks at ETH-Zurich, the University of Antwerp (Belgium), the Stefan Banach International Mathematical Center (in Warsaw, Poland), Yale University, and the University of Washington, Seattle. He has also served as Chair of the department from July 2004-July 2007.
