Alumna Profile: Sara Ring, Allstate Product Intelligence Consultant
Sara Ring, a graduate of Loyola’s MS in Applied Statistics, is a Product Intelligence Consultant at Allstate Insurance, where she helps her company better understand product and consumer data.
"Growing up, I did not always know exactly what I wanted to do for a living. Along the way, I considered many different things but no matter what I was determined that I would provide myself at least one thing: independence. I chose Loyola University of Chicago’s Applied Statistics program because I wanted to blend together a unique set of technical and analytical skills with softer skills such as communication and relationship building. The structure of the program provides exposure to different real-life applications of statistical concepts while also building necessary skills in programming languages and interpretation of information and results.
As the world and technology quickly and continually change around us, the program has grown and evolved too. You will build your resume with a diverse set of experiences and demonstrate your ability to learn and adapt instead of building narrow and limited expertise in a subset of the field.
The program supports students in gaining experience throughout the program and affords valuable opportunities to grow a network of peers and professors for support and perspectives throughout the program and into your career following completion. Loyola holds classes in the evening, providing flexibility to work or volunteer, as well. Located in the vibrant city of Chicago, there are diverse internship, employment and cultural opportunities to enjoy when during and after you complete the program.
My degree in Applied Statistics gave me the foundation to immediately start a full-time job in the data science and analytics department at Allstate Insurance Company and achieve my goal of independence. From this start, I have built a career in the analytics space and leveraged my skills, experiences and network to connect to my purpose of helping others. I currently lead analytics training programs that touch thousands of people across my company.
Life is what you make of it. Pave your own path and make the choice to build solid base in an intriguing, high-demand field with countless opportunities. Choose Loyola."
