Loyola University Museum of Art Introduces Caravaggio: Una Mostra Impossibile

Speaker and Film Series

October 14, 2005, Chicago, IL - Loyola University Museum of Art (LUMA) announces a series of special programs surrounding its inaugural exhibition, Caravaggio: una mostra impossibile, with presenting sponsor, Sara Lee Foundation. The speaker and film series, kicking-off on Tuesday, October 18, at 6:00 p.m., explores the distinctive work of Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio through academic research, literature and film.

"Integrating research and education into exhibitions is extremely important," says Pamela Ambrose, Director of Cultural Affairs at Loyola University Chicago. "The film and speaker series provides patrons with the opportunity to interact directly with the exhibition in keeping with LUMA's mission to position itself as a museum with an interest in education and educational programming."

The Caravaggio exhibition opened on October 8, 2005 at LUMA, and runs until February 11, 2006. Organized by RAI-Radiotelevisione Italiana and the Regione Campania, Caravaggio: una mostra impossibile uses the latest in high definition digital technology to reproduce the complete works of Caravaggio on a 1:1 scale with images as large as 9 ft. x 12 ft.
