Equity Laws
LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGO IS COMPLIANT with applicable federal and state laws prohibiting discrimination and sexual misconduct within the University context.
The Executive Director for Equity & Compliance is Loyola's Title IX Coordinator, and the Office for Equity & Compliance ("OEC") is responsible for coordinating compliance with the requirements of Title IX, which prohibits the University from discriminating based on sex and provides instruction for how the institution must respond to reports of sexual harassment and sexual assault within its educational programs and services.
The University approaches equity compliance with an inclusive and intersectional approach, so you won't hear the OEC refer to ourselves as "the Title IX office." While that is a critical part of our function, we are equally committed to ensuring a prompt, equitable, and thorough response to reports of discrimination against students, faculty, and staff that are based on individuals' other protected classes. At Loyola, protected classes include race, color, religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, disability, marital status, parental status, military/veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
