Giselle Medina, BA 2019

Since graduating, Giselle has worked in many roles as a coach and director for Girls' hockey clubs in IL. Recently, she has been appointed as the Youth Hockey Coordinator for the Chicago Blackhawks, where she aims to make hockey for everyone.

Kyle Scheuring, BA 2019

Since graduating with a BA in English and minors in studio art and Arabic from Loyola, Kyle went on to get his MA in Arabic language, literature and culture from DePaul University. Kyle was also a student worker at Loyola’s Cudahy library, and he worked at DePaul’s library in Collection Development while earning his MA.

In 2022, Kyle moved back to his hometown of Phoenix to work for Arizona State University where he is a copyeditor and communications consultant for ASU’s Office of Human Resources. His current role involves writing internal messaging for ASU’s 18,500 employees as well as web page creation and maintenance.

Kyle says his studies at Loyola prepared him well for the fast-paced environment of communications.

“A good portion of my job is helping clients discover motive, tone and voice for a particular project’s communication. Sure, we can send a mass email or create a large banner, but what’s the goal of this messaging, how does it fit thematically with similar university-wide efforts? These are all skills I first learned from the wonderful professors I had at Loyola digging through medieval manuscripts and discussing rhetoric."

Kyle says he’s still regrowing his love for reading after a recreational reading hiatus due to graduate school. Currently, he’s reading works by Karl Ove Knausgård, recommended to him by a friend. But he’s found himself continually returning to the works of his favorite author, Geoffrey Chaucer, specifically The Canterbury Tales and The House of Fame.

Joh Doreson, BA 2016

Joh is currently attending law school at Washington University and serving as editor of the Washington University Law Review, after spending several years teaching eighth grade English.

Elia Hohauser-Thatcher, BA 2015

Elia graduated with a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing, went on to receive his MFA in Creative Writing at Chatham University, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Rhetoric and Writing Studies at Wayne State University. His debut chapbook of poetry, The Prophet's Toothbrush, was just published by finishing line press.

Nina Berman, BA/MA 2014

An alum of our dual BA/MA program, Nina serves as Associate Director of Communications and Marketing at Fractured Atlas, an arts nonprofit based in New York City.

Anthony Betori, BA 2013

Since graduating, Anthony has worked at a number of public health nonprofits in and outside Chicago. He currently serves as Health Education Program Director at Healthy Futures of Texas, based in San Antonio.
