The English Honors Program

To graduate with honors in English, students in the English Honors Program must take three honors tutorials (English 395), all of which count towards the major either as electives or as courses satisfying historical period requirements. In order to be admitted to the English Honors Program, a student should have completed at least two English courses beyond composition and must have an average of at least 3.4 in all English courses. The student must maintain this average throughout the program. In some cases, English 399 (Independent Study) can be substituted for one of the honors tutorials. Students interested in the English Honors Program should contact the director of undergraduate programs.
