About Us
Dr. Gail D. Baura, Founding Director & Chair, Professor, Engineering, teaches freshmen in the inaugural class, the Class of 2019.
Welcome from the Chair
Thank you for your interest in the Engineering program.
As engineers and aspiring engineers, we all share the same mission—to make a positive change in the world by crafting optimum solutions to important problems. The curriculum in the Engineering program will give you valuable theoretical, practical, and hands-on knowledge that will prepare you to immediately make an impact as you begin your career.
The experience I bring to the classroom and the program is wide and varied. I have been a medical device industry executive, as well as a professor. This experience inspired me to build a program that is rooted firmly in engineering theory, meets the needs of industry, and yet offers students a unique opportunity to explore their creativity while solving social justice problems.
Engineering provides tours of Engineering facilities to interested students during our October and November Open Houses. For students who have already been admitted to Engineering, we also offer personalized tours. In both cases, please contact visitloyola@luc.edu for more information.
