About Us
Housed within the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, the Loyola Dance Program offers a dance major, a dance minor, artistic knowledge courses within the university core curriculum and engaged learning core courses.
Chicago serves as an extended classroom for our program, and our dancers engage extensively with the professional dance community through Loyola’s premier faculty, guest artists, internship opportunities, professional performances, master classes and workshops.
In addition to offering coursework in applied technique and theory, the Dance program engages in extensive public performance. Each fall our mainstage dance concert features diverse repertory to inspire audiences and engage in meaningful interdisciplinary dialogue. We present a Senior Showcase and a Student Choreographic Showcase annually.
Dance Informances take place at the end of each semester and celebrate the achievements of all of our dance courses. Beginners from our core artistic knowledge courses perform alongside our dance minors and dance majors in a varied program of ballet, modern, jazz and global dance techniques. These programs engage wide groups of students and audience members sharing an energetic and thought provoking celebration of dance and community.
Our Mission
Loyola University Chicago provides opportunities for study, performance and creation of Dance fostering transformation of individuals and communities.
