Cura Scholars Program

Student Academic Services (SAS) and the Center for Urban Research and Learning (CURL) at Loyola University Chicago are pleased to announce a new mentoring and fellowship program – Cura Scholars – to support the scholarly development of students of color at Loyola.

With a generous $300,000 investment from the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, Cura Scholars seeks to deliver whole-person care to a key part of our student community – our students of color who are historically underrepresented at Loyola and most other institutions of higher education. The goal of the Cura Scholars Program is to provide undergraduate students with effective preparation for service, fellowship, and research opportunities aimed at promoting their overall academic and career success with a special emphasis on future study at the graduate and professional school level.

The program will deliver enhanced academic, co-curricular, extracurricular, professional and personal development, financial support, and other services to facilitate academic success to approximately 30 eligible students per year. Additionally, the program looks to support faculty by providing them the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to more effectively partner with students.

The program will begin recruiting students and faculty this Fall for programming to begin in the Summer of 2021. Informational sessions for faculty mentors and students will be announced later in October.
