Stephanie Riger is an internationally recognized researcher in the area of domestic violence and violence against women. Dr. Riger was a Professor of Psychology at the University of Illinois Chicago where she taught for 25 years. Before that she had a tenured appointment at Lake Forest College. She has authored/co-authored or edited/co-edited seven books and has published scores of articles and book chapters on domestic violence and on feminist epistemology. She has received lifetime career achievement awards from both the Community Psychology Division and the Psychology of Women Division of the American Psychological Association. She has been a regular recipient of research funding from a number of funders including that National Institute of Justice and the National Institute of Mental Health. Prior to this appointment she had worked with CURL in a number of projects focused on domestic violence. Dr. Riger’s appointment continues through the ’15-’16 year.
