Former Visiting Scholars

CURL has benefited from the knowledge, wisdom and generous time of its visiting scholars.  Below are a few of our past visiting scholars:

Visiting Scholar Contribution to CURL
Kale Williams Kale Williams was invited to Loyola University Chicago as a visiting professor of applied ethics and later was appointed the senior scholar in residence at CURL. He served in that position for more than 10 years and inspired numerous students and faculty from 1997-2008. Projects Kale worked on: Fulfilling the Dream: The Chicago Freedom Movement 40th Anniversary (2004-2006), Faith and Community Partners in Action-Employment (1998-1999), Rogers Park-Community of Opportunity-Housing (1999-2002), and Leadership Council for Metropolitan Open Communities History (2006-2008).
Wei Chen Wei Chen, an urban sociologist from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (about 800 km west of Shanghai), was a visiting faculty member with Sociology based at CURL during the 2012-2013 academic year. 
Anthony Orum Anthony Orum was a visiting scholar at CURL from 2011-2015 and worked on developing new research projects. Tony has had a distinguished career as an urban sociologist, publishing scores of articles and books on a broad range of topics.  At CURL Tony mentored students, served on the ONE Northside Advisory committee (2014-2015), and taught a graduate course in Urban Sociology (2013).
