Behavioral Concerns Team
The Behavioral Concerns Team (BCT) serves as the centralized coordinated body for discussion and action regarding students exhibiting behaviors that indicate distress, cause a disturbance in the community, and/or present a danger to oneself or others. Committed to proactive, early intervention, the BCT supports students directly and through consultation with campus partners. When necessary, the BCT also assesses risk of harm to the University community and coordinates appropriate action to ensure the safety of individual students and the University at large.
Behavioral Concerns Team
The BCT Leadership Team is a sub-set of the Office of the Dean of Students. As designees of the Dean of Students, the Leadership Team ensures continuity of services in the event of staff unavailability or turnover.
BCT Leadership Team members include:
- Chair: Amber Miller, Assistant Dean of Students (amill8@luc.edu)
- Dean of Students: Will Rodriguez, Ph.D. (wrodriguez1@luc.edu)
- Associate Dean of Students: Samantha Maher Sheahan (smaher1@luc.edu)
Representatives of the following offices/departments also contribute regularly as Core Members of the BCT:
- Campus Safety
- Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution
- Department of Residence Life
- Student Academic Services
- Wellness Center
Consulting Members assist with students of concern as needed/relevant:
- Athletics
- Campus Ministry
- Colleges and Schools
- Graduate and Professional Schools and Programs on all campuses
- Undergraduate Colleges and Schools and Programs on all campuses
- Human Resources
- Office of the General Counsel
- Office of Equity & Compliance
- Office for International Programs
- Office of the Provost
- Student Accessibility Center
