New Graduate Program Director for MA in DH Program

Prof. Elizabeth Hopwood has assumed the position of Graduate Program Director for the Master’s in Digital Humanities Program for the coming year. She replaces Prof. Kyle Roberts who had served over the 2017-2018 academic year. Her term begins in July 2018.

Launched in 2011, Loyola’s Master’s in Digital Humanities program is one of a very small number of such programs in the country. In her capacity as GPD for the program, Hopwood is responsible for mentoring current students, recruiting new students, coordinating the curriculum, and fostering a broader conversation about graduate education in the Humanities at a crucial point in an increasingly challenging national discourse. This fall she will facilitate a program review of the Master’s program, the first major internal study of it since the curriculum was proposed in 2009.

“I’m excited to work closely with our talented group of MA students,” says Liz, “and to welcome future students to our interdisciplinary program.”

Liz joined the faculty of the Center for Textual Studies and Digital Humanities and English in 2016. She is a scholar of digital archives, the nineteenth-century Atlantic World and the Caribbean, and Caribbean literature. She also serves as Assistant Director and Project Manager of the CTSDH.
