Smadar Bergman
Part-Time Instructor
Email:
My name is Smadar K. Bergman, and I am a seasoned computer science researcher and teacher. I earned my PhD in Computer Science, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) from Rutgers University. I then joined the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Moffet Field Research Center as a Principal Investigator of a research project in machine learning. Next, I transitioned to Northwestern University, when I continued as a machine learning researcher, then transitioned to Academic Technologies and worked with faculty on high-visibility instructional projects. From there, I taught computer science at Loyola as an adjunct.
After raising my kids, I returned to the workplace as a high school teacher, teaching mostly in the urban Chicago Public Schools, as a teacher of high school mathematics and computer science. I taught students typically under-represented in STEM. I have now returned to Loyola to teach at the college level.
