The Center for Engaged Learning, Teaching, & Scholarship and the Loyola Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (LUROP) welcomes you to the Undergraduate Research & Engagement Symposium - Loyola’s annual celebration of research, community engagement projects, and scholarly and creative works conducted by Loyola University Chicago undergraduate students!

In the 2024 Undergraduate Research & Engagement Symposium, we celebrated student scholarship as they participated in the process of co-creating knowledge through research, community-based learning, and learning portfolios. As a celebration of students’ scholarly work, the symposium actively exhibited Loyola’s mission to “expand knowledge in service to humanity through learning, justice, and faith.” We invited students, staff, faculty, alumni, and our community partners to participate in the celebration of undergraduate scholarship and community engagement. Registration for the 2025 Symposium is now open! Click here to register before March 2, 2025.

The 2025 Undergraduate Research & Engagement Symposium will be held on Saturday, April 5th, 2025.

Students

Suppose you have participated in undergraduate research or community engagement projects through LUROP fellowships, external programs, service-learning experiences, internships, community partnerships, independent study, and academic courses during the academic year. In that case, you are eligible to participate in the Symposium. Each year, we celebrate the diverse and exciting ways undergraduate students advance Loyola’s Jesuit mission of “expanding knowledge in service to humanity through learning, justice, and faith.” Please consider sharing your undergraduate research and/or community engagement projects as part of the Undergraduate Research & Engagement Symposium.

Call for Engagement Volunteers

The Undergraduate Research and Engagement Symposium sponsored by the Center for Engaged Learning, Teaching, & Scholarship, invites you to serve as an engagement volunteer for Loyola students’ research, creative activity, and community engagement projects. This celebration of students’ scholarly work is a meaningful opportunity to engage with our Loyola students in the context of the community-based learning work and research projects with which the students have worked over the past year.

Faculty, staff, graduate students, community partners, and alumni engagement volunteers foster a learning-centered approach, providing opportunities for student presenters to explain their work. If you would like to volunteer, please check back as the sign up form will be live soon. We can't do this without you!
