Below is a list of frequently asked questions about the annual Undergraduate Research & Engagement Symposium.
HOW DO I CREATE OR SUBMIT MY PRESENTATION?
You can find guidelines and resources for creating your poster here. The URES 2025 Instructions for Creating Posters will be posted on January/February 2025. Note: these instructions may be updated closer to to the URES 2025 print deadline, so please check back before finalizing your poster. Posters are due to the Digital Media Lab for printing by midnight on Saturday, March 29th, 2025.
WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE FOR THE UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AND ENGAGEMENT SYMPOSIUM IN-PERSON EVENT ON APRIL 5, 2025?
The Undergraduate Research & Engagement Symposium will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 in Jo Ann Rooney Hall, Lake Shore Campus, Loyola University Chicago. The event begins at 10:00 am with poster presentations and ends at 5:30 pm. The schedule is as followed:
10:00 am - 11:15 am: Poster Session I (Jo Ann Rooney Hall)
11:45 am - 12:45 pm: Oral Presentations (Mundelein Classrooms)
11:45 am - 12:45 pm: Oral Presentations (Mundelein Classrooms)
11:45 am - 12:45 pm: Dance Performance
1:00 pm - 2:15 pm: Poster Session II (Jo Ann Rooney Hall)
1:00 pm - 2:15 pm: Poster Session II (Jo Ann Rooney Hall)
2:45 pm - 4:00pm Poster Session III (Jo Ann Rooney Hall)
4:15 pm - 5:30 pm: Undergraduate Research and Engagement Awards Celebration (McCormick Lounge, Coffey Hall)
WHERE WILL URES TAKE PLACE IN 2025?
The Symposium will take place in Jo Ann Rooney Hall, as well as in classrooms within the Mundelein Center. The Awards Celebration will take place in McCormick Lounge in Coffey Hall. On this campus map, you can find Mundelein labeled #27, and Coffey Hall #28.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
All Loyola faculty, staff, students, their family and friends, as well as community partners and alumni, are welcome to attend this public event.
WILL LUNCH BE PROVIDED?
Lunch will not be provided at the event, but dining facilities across campus will be open for participants to access food. NO Food or Drinks will be allowed in Jo Ann Rooney Hall during this event (only water bottles will be allowed).
WILL THERE BE SPACE TO BRING A COAT AND BACKPACK/BAG?
Space will be limited in Jo Ann Rooney Hall with hundreds of students presenting their research and community engagement projects. Items like coats, bags, and backpacks will NOT be allowed on the floor of Jo Ann Rooney Hall as they may cause a mobility hazard. There will be a free coat check where people can check these items. We encourage to limit the items you bring with you. This will avoid a long wait to pick up your checked items.
CAN A GROUP PRESENT?
Yes! We encourage both individual and collaborative presentations.
CAN I PRESENT IF MY RESEARCH OR PROJECT HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED?
Yes! You do not need to have completed your project or collected final results in order to present. Students are welcome to present projects or research that are still in progress.
HOW DO I SUBMIT MY PRESENTATION TO THE ARCHIVES?
After the in-person symposium, participants will be invited to submit their submissions for the Undergraduate Research & Engagement Symposium to the electronic archive.
