Past Event Description
A book talk and discussion of The Form of the Firm, a new book from Oxford University Press that is described as offering “a profound rethinking of what a corporation actually is and how power within it ought to be structured and exercised.” The book, written by Loyola professor Abraham Singer, argues that corporations are not simply private economic organizations, but governing institutions. Because of this, they have political obligations to live up to and uphold the norms of liberal democracy and social justice.
Our gathering started with a snapshot of the book from Singer, followed by comments from entrepreneur and private equity advisor Brian Abrams and University of Chicago professor James Lindley Wilson.
