Mireya Fouche
Co-Executive Director, Monarch Thrift Shop and Founder, One Heart One Soul
Mireya's life work is deeply rooted in her unwavering belief that every individual has a purpose and deserves equal opportunities. As a daughter of Mexican immigrants and a devoted mother to a Haitian-Mexican son, she has dedicated herself to using business practices in making a difference in the lives of marginalized communities.
Facing homelessness while pursuing her college education in Los Angeles, Mireya's resilience led her back to her hometown of Chicago, where, at the young age of 27, she fearlessly launched the non-profit organization, One Heart One Soul which uses the power of arts and community to serve incarcerated women, children and youth in homelessness.
Mireya's impactful voice has been heard on prestigious platforms such as Northwestern University, UIC, Univision, and the DuSable Museum of African American History. Her expertise in topics like Youth Homelessness and Poverty, as well as her passion for promoting creativity through social justice, has earned her recognition from the Illinois Department of Corrections and the esteemed Dr. King Drum Major Award.
In 2015 Mireya was invited to blend her knowledge of retail with her strategies for impact, thus co-creating Monarch Thrift Shop. Currently serving as the Co-Executive Director of Monarch Thrift Shop, a social enterprise partner of One Heart One Soul, Mireya continues to inspire change and uplift communities.
Driven by a relentless commitment to social justice, entrepreneurship, and education, Mireya is now embarking on her MBA journey. Eager to expand her expertise in strategic management and leadership, she aims to leverage her diverse experiences to drive systemic change and create sustainable solutions to societal issues.
Mireya's unique perspective as a young Latina professional and her personal journey of triumph over adversity have shaped her into a compassionate, resilient, and determined individual.
Through her MBA program, she seeks to refine her business acumen and build a powerful network of like-minded individuals who share her passion for making a positive social impact.
