LUMA Presents "Archiving Detritus" Lecture with Father Jerry Bleem

Space Still Available; RSVP Today at 312.915.7608

What:
On Tuesday, July 12, the Loyola University Museum of Art (LUMA) welcomes Father Jerry Bleem, contemporary fiber artist, teacher, writer, friar, and Catholic priest, for the lecture "Archiving Detritus." Father Bleem will discuss his creative work, which examines the cultural construction of meaning by looking at what we discard on a daily basis.

Father Bleem, who earned an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, is best known for producing artwork that highlights the relationship between value and identity, and considers assumed ideals. His resulting work, both two- and three-dimensional surfaces, mines topics ranging from apprehension to beauty and ecology to politics.

Tickets for the lecture are $4 for the public. LUMA members and Loyola faculty, staff, and students are free. To RSVP, send an e-mail to luma@luc.edu or call 312.915.7608.
